While viewers only get the occasional glance inside alumnus and former track star Luke Danes‘s alma mater, Stars Hollow High, it remains an important location for many of the younger characters throughout the show. Before leaving for Chilton, Rory meets Dean for the first time in the hallway when she’s cleaning out her locker, and he continues his high school career there, playing on the hockey team until graduation. Rory’s best friend Lane is secretly on the cheerleading squad—and her boyfriend Jess also attends the school when he bothers to shows up; he fails to complete his schoolwork, however, and doesn’t graduate. Once Rory leaves for private school, she loses touch with much of the goings-on at Stars Hollow High. Between homework and spending much of her free time with Dean, she fails to be there for her best friend Lane and her “soulmate” crush, fellow marching bandmate with “amazing hair,” Rich Bloomenfeld. When Lane experiences extreme embarrassment at not being able to control herself by running her fingers through Rich’s hair without permission, during a concert in the snow, and Rory gets snowed in at her grandparents’ house with no phone connection to talk her friend through it, Rory understands she needs to be more present in their friendship.

This fingerless mitt and matching scarf set has spirit, yeah, yeah, yeah! Cheer on Stars Hollow High with these fingerless mitts knit in the round starting with the bottom twisted rib cuff. Stranded colorwork stripes on the palm side and an “M” for Minutemen on the hand allow the wearer to wave their hands in support. An afterthought thumb is worked at the end. The accompanying scarf is worked as a tube in one piece with matching stranded colorwork motifs. The ends are closed with cheery tassels. Go Minutemen!
