Minuet Tam
An oversized floppy tam, great for big hair, dreads, or just when you want a large hat :) designed to accommodate regular and big heads- we may want an oversized tam, but we want it to stay on, right?
A fantastic project for any striping yarn. Model shown is knit from handspun yarn, spun from one of my FatCatKnits striping rovings. I split the roving down the center lengthwise. I spun a singles from each roving half, working hard to get the same grist, then plied the two singles together to get a self striping two ply yarn. The hat used about 3.25 oz of total of 4 oz.
You will need:
@ 240 yds of sportweight yarn
16” circ needle and set of 5 dbl pts, size US 4 (or size to meet gauge, if in doubt use the smaller needle)
One US 6 dbl pt needle (or two sizes larger than you used for hat)
Stitch markers to mark start of row, if desired.
