Mille Feuille – a thousand layers – is a French dessert that layers airy, flakey puff pastry with custard. This scarf uses stripes and mohair to a similar effect; light, simple, satisfying. The bias knit fabric (created with basic increases and decreases) adds a jaunty angle to the stripe pattern.

You’ll need three colors of a laceweight mohair.

The sample used Luna in shades 50 (color A, red) and 51 (color C, orange), and Angel in shade 15034 (color B, cream).

For the scarf, you will need about 110 yards of colors A and C, and 90 yards of color B.
For the stole, you will need about 220 yards of colors A and C, and 180 yards of color B.

This pattern is simple to modify - more colors, fewer colors, narrower, wider, leave it a parallelogram or seam it into a cowl.
