Militärstrumpa
Pattern in Swedish from a book printed in 1950 (fourth edition).
The pattern itself originated in 1940, when Crown Princess Louise held a speech over radio to the women working with knitting for the Swedish defence forces. After her speech crafts consultant Alfhild Erlandsson gave practical advise on how to knit these socks, and shared this reliable pattern for military socks.
There is no information about gauge, the needle sizes are in some outdated units that I fail to convert to current standards, and the stated sizes are also in units unknown to me.
Recommended needle sizes are 8 to 9 for those who knit loosely, 10 to 11 for those who knit more firmly. The foot of the finished sock should be 12 cm wide, 28,5 cm long for size 11, 31 cm long for size 12.
