Midsommersjalet (Midsummer shawl) 2025 is my design for the midsummer knitalong, which I co-host along with the fantastic Marie, yarn dyer and owner of my local yarn shop Wool Collective.

The shawl is a light and airy cresent shape shawl, perfect for wrapping up in on a summer evening or to use as a scarf around your neck. The design is inspired by summer moments and follows the four themes: field flower, summer leaves, cozy fire chat, and petals. The shawl can be knit in a fade from light to dark or in color blocks.

About the pattern:
The pattern will be released as a mystery knit beginning on Sunday, May 18th 2025, and will automatically be updated as the parts are released.
The dates for the four pattern releases are as follows:

• Part 1: May 18th
• Part 2: May 25th
• Part 3: June 1st
• Part 4: June 8th

The knitalong runs until midsummer solstice giving you 1 week for each of the first 3 parts, and almost 2 weeks for the final section.

The shawl is knit from the center at the neck and out. There will be four lace patterns as well as transitions between the colors. The lace patterns will both be shown in chart as well as written out.

Tip to tip along upper edge: 240 cm
Widest part: 60 cm

Materials:
Merino 400 from Wool Collective (eco non-superwash merino, 400 m pr 100 g) in 4 colors, either as a fade or for color blocking, 250 g in total with following yarn requirements for each color:

• Col A: 50 g
• Col B: 50 g
• Col C: 50 g
• Col D: 100 g I recommend that you let color A be the darkest and col D the lightest.
