Midnight Milkshake cowl
You can match this cowl with the Midnight Milkshake beanie!
Midnight Milkshake cowl is worked sideways, in the round creating a double fabric, in stockinette stitch with scrap yarn i-cords creating vertical stripes. To make up the plaid pattern, horizontal scrap yarn stripes are purled in set intervals. The cowl is closed with a ”pick up as you go” scrap yarn I-cord.
YARN
Main colour (MC): Svarta Fåret Brushed Alpaca (110 m ≈ 120 yds / 50 g) or Sandnes Borstet Alpakka (110 m ≈ 120 yds / 50 g).
Contrast colour (CC): scraps of DK to aran weight yarn for i-cords and stripes (for the sample Svarta Fåret Merino Maxi, Järbo Swedish wool 3ply, Esther by Permin (held double) and The Fibre Co. Lore was used).
SIZES
One size, with circumference of the cowl approx. 60 cm ≈ 23.75”.
Flat width approx. 22 cm ≈ 8.75”.
YARN AMOUNT
MC: 2 balls OR approx. 140 m ≈ 155 yds.
CC: Approx. 7 g ≈ 11,5 m ≈ 15,5 yds of DK to aran weight yarn for each i-cord
,approx. 3 g ≈ 5 m ≈ 5,5 yds of DK to aran weight yarn for each stripe AND 5 g ≈ 8 m ≈ 9 yds of DK to aran weight yarn for the i-cord cast off.
You will need approx. 88 g ≈ 141 m ≈ 153 yds in total for i-cords and stripes.
GAUGE
14 sts x 20 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” on 5 mm (US 8) needles over stockinette stitch with two i-cords, after blocking. Note! The i-cords counts as 1 stitch each.
NEEDLES
5 mm (US 8) circular needles, 40 cm / 16” + two 5 mm (US 8) DPNs (for I-cord cast off).
