Mezquita Shawl
This is a crescent shaped shawl which can be wrapped around your neck a few times or held with a shawl stick or pin. I designed this so it would be a bit more shallow in the crescent and wrap more like a scarf. Of course, it works as a shawl very nicely too!
WRITTEN & CHARTED PATTERN
Post-Blocking Size:
Width (around semi-circle): ~68”
Length (down centre): ~12”
NOTES:
-if you’re using stitch markers, don’t forget to move your stitch markers on row 12-20 of Chart A to accommodate for the first stitch k2tog decrease
-if you need a little more explanation on the short rows, see this thread for more detailed info
-if you find your BO edge curling, you might want to do the last 2-4 rows as garter stitch (knit all rows) or use a firmer BO as a stretchy BO can lead to curling as well
-if you decide to go down a needle size from the size 8 suggested, the chances of the edges curling goes up…the fabric should be as open as possible to alleviate wanting to curl…the tighter the fabric, the more it will curl
BLOCKING HINT:
If you find your shawl blocking too large and you have knit with superwash merino, you can air dry it a little in the dryer if you like as this will bring it back a little into its original shape - just make sure the dryer is on cool setting.
