This traditional Fair Isle beret was designed as a practical exercise in stranded colorwork. It is the homework of my Fair Isle and colorwork workshop, which I’ve been teaching for some time now.
The pattern is very easy to memorize and it is ideal for improving your stranded knitting technique and getting a better understanding of color dominance. You can knit it in two contrasting colors or, as I did for the sample, with tonal variations of the same colorway.

SIZES
1 (2, 3)
To fit a head circumference of: 47 (51, 55) cm / 18.5 (20, 21.5)”.

YARN
Rowan Felted Tweed (50% Merino, 25% Alpaca, 25% Viscose) 175 meters (91 yards) per 50 grams.
Main color: 88 (105, 122) meters.
Contrast color: 30 (35, 40) meters.
Or similar amounts of light DK or sport-weight yarn.
For my sample in size 2, I used 105 meters (30 grams) of colorway “185 Frozen” (main color, light pink) and 35 meters (10 grams) of colorway “150 Rage” (contrast color, fuchsia pink).

The pattern includes a b/w chart for you to try different color combinations.

Esta tradicional boina Fair Isle es muy fácil de tejer, memorizar y es ideal para mejorar la técnica stranded, practicar y comprender la dominancia de color.

Puedes tejerlo en dos colores de mucho con traste o, como en el de la muestra, con variaciones tonales de un mismo color: sea como sea, se va a ver bonito.
