The MESH Bandana is a light and airy triangular shawl worked in a lace pattern. It can be tied casually around the waist, but also works great as a headband - the perfect little project for summer - and it’s quick to knit with just one skein.

The shawl is worked sideways, starting with a narrow ribbed band. Then, using increases and decreases, the center triangle is shaped in a lace pattern; that is, increases are worked toward the widest point - the center point - followed by decreases. Finally, a narrow ribbed band is worked, just as on the opposite side.

Techniques used: double selvedge stitches, right leaning increases and decreases.

Yarn
50 g ‚Setapura‘ by Lana Grossa (100 % Silk; 200 m/50 g),
here col. 03
or
50 g ‚Classic Silk‘‚ by Lang Yarns (70 % Silk, 30 % Pure Wool);
150 m/50 g, here col. 0087
or
50 g ‚Landlust Sommerseide‘ by Lana Grossa (50 % Cotton, 50 % Silk; 170 m/50 g).

You can also use other qualities of a similar weight yarn for the small cloth—whatever you find in your stash.
This project is ideal for using up single or leftover skeins.

Needles
(60 cm / 24”) circular ndls size 3.0 mm (US 2.5/UK 11) or 3.5 mm (US 4/UK 10 or 9), depending on type of yarn.

For the “Classic Silk” weight, for example, it’s recommended to go up half a needle size (3.5 mm), since the yarn is slightly more elastic, which causes the lace pattern to contract more.

Gauge / Tension
ace pattern, worked flat using ndl size 3.0 mm: 22 sts x 28 rows = approx. 10 x 10 cm / 4” square, measured after washing, stretched and while lying flat. Please adjust needle size if necessary, to obtain correct gauge.

Lace pattern: Row 1 (RS): 1 yo, k2tog, rep from to end of row. Rows 2 - 4: p all sts.

Notions
Tapestry needle, stitch markers, blocking-pins.
