Merripog Socks
Merripog means “happy kiss,” because these socks have just enough of a happy kiss of colorwork to keep things interesting. I designed these socks as I was practicing my two-handed color knitting and wanted to be able to take breaks between the color changes. The cuff starts with a contrast color, adds the main color in a flowery pattern, then transitions to all main color until time to park a line of scrap yarn in place for the afterthought heel. Then the main color carries on until just before the toe decrease, when you play with the two colors a bit more before changing back to all contrast color for the toe. The heel is added in the contrast color at the end--and it’s worked just as the toe is worked. Easy!
You’ll need one skein each of two colors (about three times the yardage of main color than contrast color), but you’ll be able to make two pair of Merripog Socks by switching the colors--bonus!
