Melisma Scarf
The Melisma Scarf’s elegant cables twirl and flow across the backdrop of ribbing like lines of melody and, with only a handful of cable crosses on most of its right side rows, it makes for a breezy and satisfying knit. Choose between a wider or narrower width and add fringe if you wish. The matching Melisma Hat is also available separately.
Skills & Techniques
The Long Tail Cast On (optional), working 2-over-2 cables, and adding fringe (optional). Both charts and full written instructions are provided.
Materials Needed
4 (5) skeins of John Arbon Textiles Harvest Hues Worsted (33% Bluefaced Leicester, 33% Falklands Merino, 33% Zwartbles; 219yds/200m per 100g skein), or
753 (1097)yds/688.5 (1003)m of worsted weight yarn.
Sample colourway: ‘Russet’.
If adding fringe you will need a further 51.5 (74.5)yds/47 (68)m of matching yarn.
You will also need a cable needle, 1 (2) stitch markers for between repeats (optional), and a tapestry needle for weaving in the ends.
Finished Measurements
Relaxed after blocking:
72.5”/184cm length, and 10 (14.5)”/25.5 (37)cm width.
Shown in narrower width option (10”/25.5cm).
