The Meet Cute between seed stitch and brioche is like two movie characters who didn’t know they have so much in common. It just so happens that both seed stitch and brioche stitches require ‘happy couples,’ multiples of two, to work out well. Thus, this design became a blanket of love, complete with flirty tassels.

This blanket shawl is worked from the top down in seed stitch. There are two transitional stripes of brioche stitches moving the color from gold to gray and from gray to black. Perfect for keeping warm on the couch, around a fire, and cozy in the car. I know you’ll reach for this big, fuzzball of a layer again and again.

Yarn: Approximately 1180 yards/1079 m, 881g/31 oz of bulky weight yarn. Note that yardage usage may vary if your yarn/gauge differs.

Suggested Yarn: Custom Woolen Mills Prairie Wool Medium Soft Spun 100% Wool: 150 yards/137 m per 112 g/4 oz skein. Color A: 1 skein in Gold (Naturally Dyed). Color B: 4 skeins of Natural Light Gray (Sheep Shade). Color C:4 skeins of Dyed Black (Standard Dyed). http://www.customwoolenmills.com/wool_shop/wool_yarn/lopi_soft_spun

There are three kinds of Custom Woolen Mills Prairie Wool Medium Soft Spun. The undyed Sheep Shade colors, the Naturally Dyed colors, and Standard Dyed colors. Please note that each could give a slightly different gauge. Due to this and differences in overall gauge, my testers used less of Color B than I did, and in some cases, did not need their 4th skein. Also, my testers noticed slight bleeding of some of the darker standard dyed colors. This yarn is more delicate and can pull apart due to the high saturation of color.

Suggested Needles: US 10.5/6.5mm circular needle in at least a 40”/100 cm length and US 13/9mm circular needle for binding off.

Notions: A removable stitch marker or progress keeper to mark the center stitch column, tapestry needle for weaving in ends, cardboard and a crochet hook for making tassels.

Gauge (after blocking): 10.5 sts and 23 rows in 4”/10cm in Seed Stitch.

Finished Measurements (after blocking): Wingspan - 87”/221cm, Center Depth - 33.5”/85cm.

Difficulty Level: Suitable for intermediate knitters
