Medieval Arches

During the Baroque period, Medieval church architecture was transformed with colour and texture. The Gothic arches of church ceilings were often richly decorated, to depict the canopy of the night sky, hung with stars or peopled with the figures of saints and angels. My hat - combining stranded colourwork with cabling and bobbles - recalls these Medieval arches, and their little stars.
