Vests are so practical for little ones - and with no sleeves to make, you’ll enjoy quick results. The linen stitch front band is interesting to knit and lends this vest a contemporary vibe – perfect for wearing on the streets of London’s chic Mayfair!
With its tailored look, the Mayfair Vest can be dressed up for winter parties, or down with a causal pair of jeans. It provides plenty of warmth while leaving arms free to wriggle and play - the perfect choice for fussy babies and active kids.
This design calls for fingering weight yarn, so why not dive into those sock yarns and miniskeins in your stash? If you’re confident at knitting flat and picking up stitches then you’ll breeze through this pattern. I hope you have a precious baby or kid in your life who will love this vest!

Construction
Fronts and back are worked separately from the bottom up, and sts are joined at shoulders. Armhole edgings are worked and then sides are seamed using mattress stitch. Sts are picked up along fronts and across the back of the neck for the colourwork band, which is finished with a garter stitch button band. Sts are then picked up across the bottom of the vest to work a garter stitch hem.
