Mathis Jacket
Looking for a little fun in your office wear? The Mathis Jacket features a bobble-covered shawl collar on a tailored silhouette with a slim-fitting set-in sleeve. It’s knit flat in stockinette, then seamed, and the collar is worked with German short rows. The collar is doubled, to give it structure and volume, which also provides a beautiful finish on the inside.
Tips for modifying lengths are included in the pattern - as written it hits a few inches below the natural waist, with bracelet length sleeves.
The sample, knit in size two and modeled on 35” bust, is finished with a separating zipper, which adds a sporty edge. Other options include leaving it open, using hook and eye closures, or sewing it closed to become a ‘mock-cardigan’ pullover. Beautiful finishing will make or break this garment, so expect to take some time seaming and setting in your sleeves.
