Matchbox Teddy Bear
This pattern is for a small no-sew teddy bear and a blanket! The pattern also includes printable templates to enable you to make the matchbox (from a choice of 3 designs) and name card, making it an ideal gift, stocking filler or craft fair item.
This project is no-sew (you only have to close the hole at the end and add two lines for the face).
The pattern is written in English using American crochet terms and contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way.
You will need:
Yarn of your choice. I used dk weight yarn (equivalent to light worsted, weight 3) and my finished teddy bear measures approximately 8cm tall. Using a thicker yarn than this may result in your teddy bear not fitting inside the accompanying box.
You will need the following colours:
- Teddy Bear colour - I used lilac (King Cole Cherished DK, shade ’mulberry’) (approx. 18m).
- Blanket colour - I used cream (King Cole Cherished DK, shade ’stone’) (approx. 10.5m). Please note - The amount of yarn used will vary according to yarn weight, hook size and stitch tension so these measurements are only a rough guide. The pattern refers to the colours that I used, however these can be substituted for colours of your choice.
You will also need:
- A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.
- A pair of 6mm black safety eyes.
- A small amount of toy stuffing.
- A length of black embroidery thread (or finer weight yarn) for adding the details to the face.
- Other tools you will need are a needle, some scissors and some stitch markers.
- To make the matchbox and name card, you will need access to a printer and to print the relevant pages out onto thick white paper or thin white card.
You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
