Marrakech Tunic
Here’s a project for every knitter whose stash includes orphan skeins of fingering weight yarn in colors that sing when placed together. The chevron stripes in this tunic appear random, but in fact follow a loosely organized color placement.
It works up equally well in a self-striping yarn with long color runs; just choose a complementary solid color yarn for the elbow-length sleeves. With its easily memorized chevron pattern, side splits, and simple neckline, this sweater will be a weekend favorite. Its generous oversized fit makes it a terrific layering piece.
Shown in brights here, Marrakech would also look splendid in neutral grays with accents of black or perhaps a pop of magenta, purple, or chartreuse for the Reverse Stockinette edging. Warm-weather yarn options such as cotton, linen, and bamboo would give it 3-season wearability and beautiful drape.

PATTERN NOTES
Tunic is worked from the bottom up, in two pieces for the Front and Back hem. These two pieces are joined to work the Body in the round. The Body is split at the armholes and worked back and forth from there to the short-row shaped shoulders. Sleeve stitches are picked up from the armholes and worked down with decrease shaping to the elbow or three-quarter length. Reverse Stockinette stitch edging in contrast color finishes sleeves, side splits, and neckline. A Chart with suggested color striping is included.
Marrakech has been extensively test-knitted and tech-edited to ensure trouble-free knitting. These efforts notwithstanding, if you believe you have discovered an error in the pattern, please bring it to my attention for correction.
