Mariola Squared
This pattern is a Polish inspired creation for my number one fan, Mariola Malinowska. It’s designed to be reminiscent of pisanki eggs.
This is the square version of my Mariola triangle shawl. It is designed for beginner to intermediate crocheters.
The pattern is designed to repeat, so you can make one-repeat square to join together with others or continue the repeating pattern until the desired size of afghan is achieved.
A cardigan can also be made. See the example by mola1971.
There are small charts in each row of the written pattern to assist with visualising where corners are and the placement of stitches. The green stitch indicates the starting stitch of the row.
Stitches include: chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, treble crochet, half double crochet two together, back post double crochet, front post double crochet, treble cluster, y-stitch, puff stitch (popcorns or clusters can be used instead).
I suggest cotton acrylic 4 plys from Wolle Amore or KoKonki.
Scheepjes and YarnArt Flowers would also be suitable for this project. The amount required will depend on the size you decide to make your project.
