For this baby set, I used just a simple stockinette with some ribbing. The hand-painted colorwork of this very soft yarn is all that was needed. Any elaborate pattern would be lost with the color changes.
I made the hat for 3 months old baby, other sizes are mathematically calculated.
I used Misti Alpaca for my project. It is a 100g (437 yds/400m) sock yarn with 50% alpaca, 30% merino, 10% silk, and 10%nylon. One skein is all I needed and I still had some leftover after I finished my project for 3 months old baby.
