 differently, yes. But it works. There is more than one way to do things you see…’
 


There is more than one way to do things indeed. Including knitting mittens. 

While circular construction seems to be the current standard, the method I was taught as a young girl was flat and sideways. It might seem counterintuitive, but it works - and 
 lends itself especially well to bulky and textured yarns - which can be 
awkward to work around a small circumference in the round, and much simpler and quicker to 
knit flat.

or as needed to meet gauge in garter stitch
