Mareel
Knitworthy 3
The collection features 8 patterns intended to make good gifts for everyone on your knitworthy list (because life’s too short to knit for anyone who doesn’t love what you make).
Mareel
Mareel combines elements from two of my favourite basic shawl concepts: Elizabeth Zimmermann’s elegant Pi shawl and a classic Shetland Hap. The centre is worked as a half pi shawl, from which the striped feather and fan border continues with shaping worked into the feather and fan pattern. The edging is knit sideways onto the live border stitches. It’s the perfect size to wrap around your shoulders as a sneaky blanket, or to wrap up a newborn. Perhaps because of that both the design and colours ended up infused with nostalgia for my 1980s Scottish childhood, full of Shetland inspired hand knitting and hand me downs in decidedly 70s colours.
