The Marajó shawl pattern was inspired by the typical geometrical motifs carved in the traditional Marajoara pottery of Marajó Island. Marajó Island is the world’s largest fluvial island and is located in northern Brazil, in the Amazon River delta.

It has a slightly rounded triangular shape, framed by a double lace edge and is completely reversible. (garter stitch)

Shape is done using short rows in the German way: you will find a good video here

It is knitted in one piece using circular knitting needles (back and forward) and in 4 (four) steps, without breaking the yarn

Skill level: intermediate
Fully written and charted instructions

Pattern is available in two sizes. (550m for small version, 830m for large version)

Original pattern was knitted with Lane Cervinia Cortina (fingering weight ) and 3.5mm needles

Gauge is not that important but if you use a thicker yarn your shawl will turn out very big

You may use 420 6/0 seed beads or 70 6mm crystals for the large version

This pattern has been tested (large size)

Measurements are in cm (1 inch =2. 54cm)
