Traditionally constructed using the Shetland method of knitting the main triangle first, followed by the edging, the Maquette shawl is a classic accessory deserving of space in your handmade closet. A rounded tip along the bottom edge in addition to a garter stitch frame softens the otherwise edgy broken diamond motif that works its way across the center. Knit one for yourself in Arbor using either the provided written or charted instructions, and then another in Peerie as one can never have too many shawls.
Please note: the stitch patterns used for this accessory include written as well as charted instructions.
Construction
This shawl is constructed using a traditional Shetland method. The center triangle is knit first, beginning with 1 stitch. Stitches are increased by working a yarn over (YO) at the beginning of every row. Additional increases are worked into the center of the shawl, giving it a wider wingspan. Stitches are then picked up from the yarn over loops on the edges of the center triangle, and the border section is worked out from these stitches.
