Pour le printemps, j’avais envie d’un gilet douillet à manches courtes. Dans mes critères, je voulais donc des manches courtes, un fil double mohair pour le moelleux et la chaleur (en grande frileuse que je suis…) et des petits volants ! Je suis vite partie découvrir ce coloris Cachou chez Nathalie alias By Night Creations car j’adore son Halo et Manida est né.

Manida est donc un gilet en top-down, avec un corps et des manches en jersey. J’ai tricoté un modèle à manches montées pour que le tombé soit idéal pour les manches courtes. Il est en aller-retour avec le dos et les devants travaillés en premier au fur et à mesure. Il y a maintenant trois options de manches : les manches courtes sont resserrées pour amplifier le volant et ce dernier est soit petit, soit plus prononcé, et l’option sans manches est venue se rajouter. Pour finir, il est bordé de côtes 1/1 torses et l’encolure est tricotée après-coup sur tout le tour. La pièce qui finit un look !

For spring, I was craving a cosy short-sleeved cardigan. The list of requirements was simple, short sleeves as I said, a silk mohair base held double for the cosiness and the warmth (sensitive to the cold as I am…) and small ruffles ! I went straight to Nathalie aka By Night Creations to discover her Cachou colourway, her Halo base being one of my favourites and so Manida was born.

Manida is a top-down cardigan, with body and sleeves worked in stockinette stitch. I went for a set-in sleeve construction so that the fit would be perfect for short sleeves. It’s knit flat, first off with the back and fronts worked gradually . You can now choose from 3 sleeve options: the short sleeves feature decreases before the ruffle to make it more outstanding, the latter being either small or more dramatic, and the sleeveless version which ,initially, was not planned. To finish the cardigan, you work in 1/1 twisted ribbing and the neckline is knit at the very end, all around the opening. The garment to make a look stand out !

Gauge : 21 sts/28 rows = 10 cm in stockinette st.

Yarn : My cardigans were knit in size 92 (3 cm of positive ease) using 4 skeins in the Cachou colourway and 3 skeins in the Natural colourway of Halo (72% Superkid Mohair, 28% Mulberry Silk – 420m / 50gr) from By Night Creations.

Given that your get gauge, your can use 2 strands of lace weight yarn or 1 strand of DK weight yarn (in that case, divide the meterage by 2) in the following meterage :
