It’s a cowl! It’s a hat! The choice is yours!

Mandola is worked from the bottom up. The lower ribbed band is knit flat and then joined together as we move through the colowork and then upper ribbing. To finish of the design an i-cord lace is worked and threaded through eyelets. This cord is used to draw the top together for use as a hat. Simply loosen the cord and pull Mandola down to wear as a cowl. Buttons on the lower ribbing can be opened when using as a cowl to allow for more movement across the shoulders.

The of the color patterning used in this design is inspired by tapestry, stained glass, and scrolls from the 6th to 12th century
