notes
Basketweave patterns lend themselves to variation. The
blocks can be small for a lightly textured fabric. Or, as in
this case, the blocks can be blown way up in scale for a
strong vertical/horizontal pattern.
For the long Marsh cowl, the pattern in worked vertically,
three blocks across. The side edges wave in and out.
dramatically. When the piece is complete, leave the ends
as they are for a scarf, or sew them together for a loopy
cowl. The Goldfinch cowl is worked in the round as a
wide tube, starting and ending with a welt border.
