The Maltese sweater is a top-down raglan sweater in wonderful and squishy half fisherman’s rib. I love this stitch and it’s perfect for baby clothes: It is so stretchy that it can easily accommodate a growing baby!

SIZES
3 (6, 12, 18, 24) months.
Chest circ: 47 (52, 56, 61, 66) cm / 18.5 (20.5, 22 24, 26)”

YARN
320 (360, 420, 530, 620) meter of Merino Italiano by Serafina Retrosaria (100% non-superwash merino) 100 gr /325 m.

NEEDLES
— 3 mm circular needle, for the neckband, hem, and cuffs (or 0.5 mm below-gauge needle size)
— 3.5 mm for body and sleeves (or needle size to obtain gauge)
Swatch to find the right needle size for your own tension and yarn choice.

GAUGE
23 sts x 41 rounds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” in half fisherman’s rib stitch on larger needle after blocking.

Half Fisherman’s Rib is very stretchy and therefore rather tricky to measure correctly. Double-check your measurements throughout.

NOTIONS
Blocking tools, scissors, darning needle, scrap yarn or stitch holder for holding underarm stitches, stitch markers and tape measure.
