In 2014, I designed ‘Malin’, a Fair Isle pattern for a hat and matching gloves using our ‘Supersoft’ yarn. We stopped selling that yarn a long time ago, so I have now adapted the pattern to be knit with fingering weight or sock yarn.

A pair of socks featuring the same pattern was a logical next step, now 9 years after the original design. We currently have 110 different colors of Simple Sock, which are perfect for this kind of colorwork.

Choose 1 main color and 4 contrast colors, and knit your own version of the Malin Socks!

Materials
The sample pair was knitted with:

1 skein Wol met Verve Basic Sock (100g / 420m, 75% virgin wool, 25% nylon)

4 colors of Simple Sock mini skeins (20g / 84m, 75% virgin wool, 25% nylon)
For the color that forms the thin lines in the center part of the pattern (small crosses), you only need about 3 grams. For the other colors of the Simple Sock, you will need up to 10-12 grams per color.
