Maleny
Maleny is the final instalment in Hinterland series of shawls designed for yarns with long colour repeats. The gentle shaping and stepped edging create interest without competing with your chosen colourway.
Maleny can be made in multiple yarn weights and is written in 3 sizes - Small & Large scarf, and Shawlette.
A terrific project for the confident beginner, choose your favourite yarn, grab a hook and get started!
Yarn: It’s up to you! This design can be worked up using just about any fibre and yarn weight. Cotton, silk, alpaca and bamboo blends would be the most ideal as they are more likely to drape gently. But if you are planning a cold-weather accessory, 100% wool will also work beautifully.
Skill level: EASY
This is a project created using basic stitches and requires minimal shaping and finishing. It would be a great project for the adventurous beginner.
Gauge: For this design, exact gauge is not necessary. Aim for a soft fluid fabric suited to the yarn you have chosen. You don’t want your shawl to be stiff and rigid, or loose and shapeless. Work a couple of pattern repeats and be the judge. If it’s too stiff, choose a larger hook. If the fabric is too loose, go down a hook size.
