Making a cable sampler
by Pam Allen
Pattern Description from Knitting for Dummies: “Making a cable sampler offers a great opportunity to practice working with cables and to see how easy it is to vary this basic technique for different effects. The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll become with the basic cable moves. Use a medium-weight wool yarn and size 8 or 9 needles. You can work cables on a larger needle than you would normally use, but don’t try working them on a smaller size unless you’re making a suit of armor - the fabric will be so dense it will stand up on its own. This cable sampler includes the following cable patterns:
- a simple rope cable
- a wave cable
- an open cable
- a varied cable
This pattern may be found on pages 163-166 of Knitting for Dummies
