THE INSPIRATION
I designed this beanie in collaboration with Fairlight Fibers to celebrate all of you amazingly talented MAKERS out there who support and inspire me every day. Some knit, some crochet, some spin and dye yarn, some paint, some sew, some make jewelry, some play music, some work with clay…..all of you are artists, and I am grateful to be a part of this community.
THE CONSTRUCTION
Knit in the round from the brim up, this pattern uses a variety of different knitting techniques to help you master the basics. The pattern includes detailed written instructions, a colorwork chart, and plenty of pictures to help you along the way, so it is perfect for those who are new to knitting in the round and who want to learn how to knit using multiple colors. You will need to know how to knit, purl, and how to do the long-tail cast on; and I will teach you the rest. It’s all quite simple! I recommend this pattern for beginner to intermediate knitters.
THE YARN
I designed this pattern using Stonehedge Fibers Shepherd’s Wool Worsted, which is no longer available at Fairlight Fibers, but you can purchase it directly from the manufacturer. It’s a very high quality, soft nonsuperwash merino wool yarn that comes in a wide array of colors. I highly recommend it! I used “Pewter” for Color 1 and “Granite” for Color 2.
