Maisie cowl

The Maisie crochet cowl has a high collar that will keep your neck nice and warm. I designed this crochet cowl especially to wear under my raincoat. Of course it goes with any coat, but a raincoat needs to be zipped up completely in order to keep the rain out and not every cowl or scarf allows that. I wanted the part around my neck long and snug so that it would protect my neck properly against the cold rain and the wind.
You’ll start the Maisie cowl from the bottom, increasing on both sides for a few rows. You’ll make two panels and then you’ll slip stitch or sew them together. After that you’ll make that extra long collar of this crochet cowl in rounds and you finish with the ribbing and edging.
The pattern is suitable for the adventurous beginner. I’ve made a photo tutorial to make it even easier. You will have some ends to weave in, but maybe this is an excellent opportunity to use up your scraps! One tip: watch your gauge! Some crocheters tend to crochet looser after a while. This could cause the collar part to be too loose.
