The Maine Coast Shawl is the Autumn 2024 edition of Club KnitWit! It is available exclusively through the club through the end of April 2025.

Down, downeast by the edge of the state, warm winds from the southwest send rusted weathervanes set high on tin roofs spinning. Past the miles of blueberry barrens, old whitewashed farmhouses, laundry lines and earthen pine trees lies the Atlantic. She sparkles in the sunlight and reflects it back up the rugged oceanside cliffs, off red topped lighthouses and grazing the shale cliffs. Up the road a bit, a small nostalgic diner with vintage seating (matching the lighthouse, of course) and checkerboard flooring serves stacks of pancakes topped with cream. The checkerboard pattern shows up again in the white lace curtain windows of the salt faded grey houses along the ocean road. The tide hangs heavy in the air, and a lone shawl rests on the side of an old rocking chair on the porch of one of those houses, waiting for its owner to come wrap away the coastal chill of October’s air.

Notions: 4 stitch markers, darning needle for weaving ends.

Notes: Shawl is cast on using a garter tab and worked from the top down flat.
