Magic Hour
Magic Hour is a simple lace shawl, pleasing to knit and a joy to wear. Its contemporary asymmetric shape wraps around the body easily and with knitting commencing at its widest point, the shawl grows rapidly. The sloping pattern is worked with a combination of just yarn overs and knit two togethers plus a further decrease on the sloping edge of the shawl gradually reducing the stitches. On completion of the main body of the shawl tassels are made from the remaining yarn and then drawn through the cast-on stitches and knotted in place.
Magic Hour is knitted in Melissa lace weight yarn, a luxurious blend of baby Alpaca, silk and cashmere. Two strands are held together throughout using two coordinating shades of hand-dyed Melissa.
Magic Hour is both the title of a favourite song of mine and also the name given to one of my most loved times of day, when on long summer evenings, the sun begins its slow descent to the far away horizon and the earth basks in its golden glow.
The pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the shawl, so the knitter can work from their preferred approach. This is the perfect pattern for beginner lace knitters or knitters looking for a relaxing, easy shawl to knit.
The pattern contains full written and charted instructions as well as clear schematic diagrams. Includes a bonus Fringing tutorial PDF.
