Maggie is an fun lace hat that is simple enough to make a great intro to a lace project, yet still fun enough for more experienced knitters, as well. It is a companion hat to Cunegonde, and the third installment to the Candide Knits Collection.

The pattern is written for BOTH Worsted weight and DK weight yarns. The sizes indicated are for the actual final dimensions. I would choose a size that has roughly 0 to -2” negative ease. The hat is meant to have just a slight amount of slouch, which lends itself to having no ease. Some testers felt that they would have preferred having a small amount of negative ease, however.

Sizes
Worsted version (green): 18” (20.5”, 23.75”) (48 (52, 60) cm) circumference x 9” (9.5”, 10”) (22.75 (24, 25.5) cm), height. Model is wearing the 20.5” version with a 21” head.
DK version (purple-y burgundy): 18” (20”, 22”, 24”) 48 (51, 56, 61) cm circumference x 8.75” (9”, 9.25”, 9.5”) 22.25 (22.75, 23.5, 24) cm height. Model is wearing the 20” version on a 21” head.

Gauge
Worsted: 17.25sts x 25rows = 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm)
DK: 22sts x 29rows = 4” x 4” (10 x 10 cm)
Both measured in st st, in the round on larger needles.

Needles
Worsted: US 7 - 16” circular needle, US 9 - 16” circular needle and DPNs.
DK: US 5 - 16” circular needle, US 7 - 16” circular needle and DPNs.
