Maema
The Knitting Cup has a tutorial on YouTube for the Honeycomb Brioche stitch used in this pattern, which you can see here.
Maema is a lightweight cardigan knit top down in one piece. It features Honeycomb Brioche on the fronts and back to provide some squishy texture on this simple raglan shape. It is open at the front with exaggerated armholes and roomy elbow length sleeves, which makes it a perfect spring and summer layering piece. The single ply Merino yarn contributes to the airy feel of the cardigan’s lightweight fabric and draping silhouette.
Needles & Notions US4 / 3.5 mm circular knitting needles of various lengths, stitch markers, darning needle
Gauge 28 sts x 37 rws = 4” / 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch; 23 sts x 42 rws = 4” / 10 cm in Honeycomb Brioche Stitch; Make sure you are using the same needle size for both gauge swatches, as both patterns are worked at the same time. Suggested needle is US4 / 3.5 mm, but use needle required to match gauge.
Yarn Requirements & Finished Measurements Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light 420 yds (384 m); 100% Merino Wool in Gracenotes or other single-ply fingering weight yarn.
Since this is an open front cardigan and the front bands do not touch or overlap, it is recommended you choose your size based on your upper bust measurement, which is the circumference around your body at your underarms, above your full bust. Comparing this measurement with the Body Circumference listed, choose a size with approximately 3-5” / 7.5-12.75 cm of positive ease.
Model has an upper bust measurement of 39” / 99 cm and is wearing size Large with 3.75” / 9.5 cm of positive ease.
