Madrona Cowl
The Madrona Cowl is a 2 color brioche knit cowl, worked in the round from the bottom up.
Madrona trees are native to the Pacific Northwest. They have gorgeous peeling bark, shiny leaves, and little berries. This cowl features leaves and optional small bobble-like berries. I knit most of the blue cowl (no berries) while at Madrona Fiber Arts Festival, and the name seems to fit. The green sample has berries on the vertical columns.
The small size uses 100 yards background color, 80 yards main color (shown in blue).
The large size uses 125 yards background color, 100 yards main color (shown in green).
Thanks to tech editor Amanda Woodruff, and test knitters Jardee Worcester and Tami Hawes.
Note: There was a typo in the cast on number for the large cowl; it should be 120 stitches, not 125. A corrected pattern has been uploaded to Ravelry in May 2020.
October 2020: I’ve updated my Madrona Cowl pattern with new charts for a better reading experience. (Hooray for StitchMastery!)
Also, I’ve updated the written instructions to use the more standard term sl1yo, instead of YOS and SYO. The video tutorials have also been updated. The new file is named Madrona Cowl 10.20 new charts.pdf
If you prefer the previous language, the file named Madrona Cowl 05.20.pdf uses that. I’ll leave it in the library for you.
This pattern is also available through my Payhip store.
