Madame Chique
Madame Chique is a Brioche- Reversed Stockinette combo shawl. It is knitted flat from the narrow top down where it widens considerably. The Brioche work requires mastering Brioche stitch. For video tutorials please visit my YouTube channel
Measurements:
The shawl is huge. If it’s too big, you can stop whenever you want (there are exit points) and go straight for the finishing part.
From base point to either corner: 95 cm/ 37.5’’.
From base point to outer hem: 72 cm/ 28 ‘’.
Yarn :
all yarns are of fingering weight yarn- 355 m /100g.
Dark color (DC) yarn- 290 g
Light color(LC) yarn- should be in contrast to DC. I have worked with 4 different colors to create a fading effect, however, you can use as many colors as you like. The total amount of LC yarn is 250 g
Gauge for 10X10 / 4’’x4’’:
Two Color Brioche and Reverse Stockinette-
18 sts and 22 rows.
With 3 mm/ 2.5 US circular needles or any size to maintain gauge- the needles should be at least 91 cm/ 36’’ long.
The whole piece should be worked with needles 0.50mm below normal size for this yarn weight- as in any brioche project. During the knit there will be differences between the reversed stockinette parts and brioche part- they balance out after blocking.
Materials:
Gauge size circular needles at least 91 cm/ 36’’ long.
10 Stitch markers for pattern changes, 34 optional for brioche pattern repeat.
Waste yarn to put sts on hold.
A larger gauge needle-0.5 mm above gauge size to for Icelandic bind off- can be DPN/ straight/ circular.
Tapestry needle to weave in the ends.
