Lux is an adorable little turtle who loves cuddles and wearing a rainbow shell. Lux isn’t quite ready for swimming in the ocean but will happily paddle at the shore and play with bubbles.

Lux is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Lux is approx. 13cm tall (5 inches).

You will need:

• 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
• 8ply yarns/DK or Light Worsted > 50g of GREEN, less than 50g of PURPLE, BLUSH, ORANGE and PINK
• BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread’
• 8mm safety eyes
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• Polyester toy stuffing
• Stitch marker

Notes:

• Amigurumi is usually stitched in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
• When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
• Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
• I’ve used the following yarns: o GREEN = Ricorumi DK cotton by Rico Design in col. 046 o PURPLE = Ricorumi DK cotton by Rico Design in col. 016 o BLUSH = Ricorumi DK cotton by Rico Design in col. 009 o ORANGE = Ricorumi DK cotton by Rico Design in col. 070 o PINK = Ricorumi DK cotton by Rico Design in col. 080
• I have used safety eyes but you may embroider. Please ensure that there are no loose fittings.
