Lumi cardigan
Lumi is a long and cozy cardigan, made completely of scrap yarn.
I have used for this cardigan all together 11 different yarns: wool, wool blends, alpaca, alpaca blends and even some smaller balls I have no idea what they are and where they come from. The weight of the yarns varies from sport to super bulky. In this pattern I give you the golden tips how to combine quite different yarns in the same project. So, if your closet is full of leftover yarns, this a perfect way to get rid of some.
The stitch pattern is an irregular garter and stockinette combination. The direction of knitting changes unconventionally by increases throughout the work. This way garter stitch creates graphical lines, corners, and interesting surfaces. Back is worked from center back outwards to sides and shoulders. Sleeves are worked top down.
Lumi-cardigan has a loose fit and royal length.
Pattern has 4 sizes. The front panels are overlapping. I made this cardigan without buttons, but you can add buttons or hooks if you prefer.
Wish you inspiration and creativity with your leftover yarns. Love, Piia Maria
Yarn: Approx 850-900-950-1000 g (30-31.7-33.5-35.3 oz) leftover yarn. Half of the yarns should be DK weight (50g = 115m) and Worsted weight (50g =100m). The other half Sport weight (50g = 130m), Aran weight (50g = 80m), Bulky weight (50g = 70m) and Super bulky weight (50g = 55m).
Yardage is approx 1800-1950-2100-2250 m (1970-2135-2300-2460 yd). Note that this yardage is based on the yarns used in the sample. The yardage can vary quite much with different yarns and your gauge. If you use only one single yarn, yardage is less, since you don’t need extra yarn for tails.
Sizes: S-M-L-XL
Finished bust circumference: 96-104-112-120 cm
