The model in these photographs was made with a worsted weight, soft 100% cotton yarn. I personally recommend cotton-acrylic or other cotton blends for softness and durability for baby gifts.That said, just about any worsted weight yarn can be used in this project

You will need approximately 5 oz of ww for the main color and less than 1 oz of ww for the contrast color. You will also need some fiber fill and a bit of crochet or embroidery thread to make the face. Hook sizes are 3.5mm and 5.0mm. Using yarn weights different from those suggested will affect gauge and finished size. It is vitally important that the head and arms be made with a very tight gauge to prevent stuffing from escaping, whatever changes you may make to the yarn.
