Welcome to the fifth pattern of Year of Meditation! This design is for Lughnasadh, which is usually August 1. Beginning the socks at Litha should allow enough time to complete your project and have the chance to wear your socks while enjoying some fresh fruit on Lughnasadh. Included is a mini-magazine with a recipe, information about deer, and a meditation.

This is a wonderfully simple design of 1/1 cables and purled stitches that have enough repetition to be meditative while still keeping your interest to the end. The design represents the the paths through the forest in our hearts. It would look great with tonal, gradient and handspun.

You’ll need a skein of sock yarn (between 250-375 yards, depending on the size and length you make) and your favorite sock needles (I prefer using the “Magic Loop” method of knitting socks). You also might like to have handy your favorite mug of coffee or tea, a bouquet of flowers, or even a happy song list playing in the background.

The sample was knit with Cauldron’s Path Yarns Frost Moon in Heart’s Balm and used 275 yards.
