This women’s cropped lace cardigan is worked back and forth from the bottom hem up to the armholes. The sleeves are then worked in the round and then joined to the body. The upper body and shoulders are shaped with raglan decreases, ending in a rounded ribbed crew neck. The front bands are worked in ribbing and fasten with buttons. Minimal finishing is required; only weaving in yarn ends and
grafting the underarm stitches together is needed.

The sample was knit with Rauma Gammelserie, a traditional 100% wool fingering weight yarn, but could be knit with any non-halo’ing fingering weight yarn that achieves the correct gauge.

The Celtic festival of Lughnassadh or Lammas is celebrated August 1st. It is a celebration of the height of summer, and a gathering of the grain harvest. It is a festival celebrating Lugh, or the Celtic Sun
King, as well as the Grain Mother and the magic of long, warm, sunny days. The lace pattern in this cardigan features stylized haystacks and sunflowers in vertical rows.
