The KnitPicks-branded yarn version of this pattern has been discontinued by that company. However, the original generic version of Felted Beret pattern that I designed is still available.

From the pattern description: This jaunty beret knits up quickly for a distinctive gift. Easy machine felting instructions with photo support are included.

Don’t be dismayed if at first you think you might be knitting an oversized coolie hat. The “lucky 7” sections for shaping, together with the shrinkage factor of the Knit Picks Shamrock wool yarn during the machine felting process, are designed to give you a handsome-looking beret.

The additional photos included here are of the beret before felting.

Note: Wool of the Andes has been added a suggested yarn since that is what KnitPicks is now saying on their site (Knit Picks discontinued Shamrock). I myself (Jackie E-S, the designer) have not used Wool of the Andes for felting in this beret so cannot assure you of its results as a substitute.
