The Lovejoy Fountain Park is nestled in the backyard of Angelika’s Yarn Store and was the inspiration for this wavy lace shawl. Completed in 1966, the park’s water feature was the first in a series of fountains designed by Lawrence Halprin as part of urban renewal in the area. The fountain is named after Mass. lawyer, Asa Lovejoy, who in 1843 beached his canoe on the bank of the Willamette River where Portland is now located.
