Unlike other designs in the book, there is no ease in this design because it is intended to be worn either for layering or as pajamas. However, it features a stretchy waffle knit pattern (a Grow-With-Me-Tip!) so you don’t have to worry about it being outgrown overly quickly. Still, size up if you’d rather it be worn as an outer layer or just don’t want as snug of a fit. Shown in size 6. Check out the top here. PS: these are also begging to be knit as leggings!

Size: 4 (6, 8, 10, 12)
Finished Waist: 19.5 (20.25, 20.75, 22, 23)”
Gauge: 23 sts and 32 rows per 4” in stockinette on larger needles
Yarn: 500 (575, 660, 750, 860) yards sport weight yarn, shown in Lorna’s Laces Sportmate in “Cedar”
Tools: Size 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circular needles and set of 5 DPNs, size 4 (3.5 mm) 16” circular needle, stitch markers
Notions: 1” elastic measuring for finished waist, sewing needle and thread

Pattern Notes

  • Pants are worked in the round from the waist down with short-row shaping at the rear and side shaping for the hips. Each leg is worked separately in the round.
  • These PJs are sized with no ease or negative ease to be a snug fit as an underlayer.
