Crescent shawls don’t have to start with a stockinette portion! This shawl begins with twisted stitches alternating with a clever mock cable (no cabling involved) for a fresh, graphic look. It then opens up to a lacy floriate edge with a dramatic lower edge (dramatic points really are the best bit of a lace shawl, right?).
This shawl came about because someone very special (me mam) asked for a lace shawl for a big-number (that shall remain unspecified) birthday. I’m a terrible gift-knitter, but I couldn’t say no to such a request, and went to work to develop something wearable yet special. Maybe you’re a more generous person than I and will make this for someone special. Or just keep it for yourself. That’s what I’d usually do.
