Everybody’s idea of a perfect hat is different. Mine is a tight-fitting cloche or beanie, and if it has a matching shawl and mittens – even better! This, my first ever hat construction, also turns out to be my favourite hat so far. What’s not to love about the classic cables paired with spiral twists that go around the hat in a lovely swirl, like a soft-serve vanilla ice cream cone?

The cables are easy and fun to knit – both for experienced knitters and as a first cable project. Knitted in organic llama yarn - held double - it is soft, warm and cosy to wear, and a delight to make.
