Little Sunsets Scarf
The colours of these lovely lace weight yarns remind me of a beautiful sunset at the end of a summer’s day.
The scarf is knitted lengthwise, using short row shaping to make the little sunsets in pink and red. You work each little sunset separately before knitting along to the position for the next one. The borders and stripes have a row of grey eyelets between black garter stitch ridges. The edges of the scarf have a small garter stitch border.
The Little Sunsets scarf measures 130cm x 27cm (51in x 10.5in).
For the colour combination shown in the pattern picture, I have used the following yarns and shades: Rowan Fine Lace (934) Noir and (935) Vamp, Manos Del Uruguay (7311) Iris and Debbie Bliss Rialto Lace (009) Cyclamen. To knit this short scarf, you need 20-25g of each of these 4 shades.
Little Sunsets is part of a collection of scarf designs that use short row shaping to create ‘pops’ of colour. (Little Suns, published in the Knitter Magazine, Issue 47, uses a similar technique.)
