This is a pattern for an opossum and two little opossums. The larger opossum is about 6 ½ inches tall to the tips of her ears, the little ones are 3 ¼ and 2 ½ inches tall. There are so many cute videos of opossums on the internet that I couldn’t resist designing my own. Of course an opossum design wouldn’t be complete without some young opossums. I’ve provided designs for two different size young so you can customize your opossum family. You can vary your opossum sizes even more by using different weight yarns to get larger or smaller opossums. I knitted my little opossum friend with Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok which is a light worsted weight yarn 123 yards/50 grams and the amounts of yarn and gauge listed in the patterns reflect that, but you can knit your opossum in any weight yarn and gauge isn’t very important. All three opossums and their clothes take about 200 yards of worsted weight yarn., less than 35 yards of any one color.
